Ambulance simulation
The Home Simulation Room recreates a home environment where health professionals have to assist patients at home, especially for people with reduced mobility, dependent people, or home emergencies.
This space is being used since the 19/20 academic year by the students of the Nursing Degree and is used as a tool to get students involved first-hand and to acquire the intended competences. The simulation involves total immersion of the student in the different clinical cases that can be performed in real home assistance cases.
The simulated house is composed of two separate areas: the living area and a debriefing room, where the monitoring equipment is located. The living area is where the clinical cases are performed: it has a toilet, living-dining room, kitchen, and bedroom, and all are separated by glass and fully equipped with the corresponding furniture, making the practice sessions as real as possible. The debriefing room is the place for presentations, reflection and visualisation of the home care cases. Both rooms are equipped with an audiovisual system that allows for reproduction and interaction thanks to the microphones, speakers and cameras installed; so cases can be watched both in the living area and in the debriefing room, either live, recorded or remotely.
Thanks to these resources and to the development of new teaching and learning methodologies, we are able to increase motivation, stimulate learning and performance, thus enhancing students; professional development skills.
